Announcing: C&F + BHLDN

Decor Room Table

At Cream & Flutter, our most creative and inspiring work is often brought to life while working with brides and party throwers.  So when we began collaborating with Anthropologie‘s newest bridal brand, BHLDN, it seemed like a dream come true.

Now, we could not be any happier to announce our formal partnership with BHLDN, where we will be combining our delicious pastries and confections with their gorgeous decor and apparel.  You can now purchase a selection of Cream & Flutter products in the Chicago BHLDN retail store, and you can also find a selection of BHLDN decor items on display and for sale at Cream & Flutter.  We strongly believe that this relationship will create new possibilities for both Cream & Flutter and BHLDN clients, and are looking forward to continuing our work with BHLDN in new and unique ways.

Love the BHLDN style as much as we do? Ask us for a BHLDN dessert table! We are happy to incorporate BHLDN treat pedestals, signage, cake embellishments, and backdrops along with our Cream & Flutter sweets to create a totally swoon-worth display that your guests will adore.

Book Signing with Bash, Please

The New-Fashioned Wedding

We recently had the pleasure of helping BHLDN Chicago throw a book signing party for the event producers (Paige & Kelly) at Bash, Please.  Paige and Kelly are the cool creative force behind many weddings and celebrity events along the California coast and have recently published a book, The New-Fashioned Wedding, that chronicles their designs and approach to planning and executing unconventionally hip events.

These two ladies are down-to-earth and a whole lot of fun.  We were honored to spend a sunny afternoon with them at BHLDN, handing out sweets and talking weddings with a lot of newly engaged brides.

You can check out a few photos from the event, including the Cream & Flutter dessert table, super-duper cute BHLDN merch, arrangements from the lovely Lynn at Pollen Florals, gorgeous china from Sarah at Vintage Plate Rentals, and of course, Paige and Kelly themselves!

Martha Stewart Wedding Party

BHLDN/C&F Display

Lucky us!  We recently got to spend the day with two wedding industry greats: BHLDN and Martha Stewart Weddings!

The Martha Stewart Wedding Party was a huge hit among Chicago brides, bringing the best in Chicago wedding vendors, loads of great food, tall flutes filled with mimosas, and wedding advice from the celebrity editor herself, Darcy Miller!

Michele, Danielle, and I turned heads all day in our colorful BHLDN spring frocks, while showing off the coveted Onyx gown from Catherine Deane, more of the BHLDN spring collection, and a full display of color coordinated sweet treats.  Lynn from Pollen floral design brought us the lovely spring blooms.

Of course, the best part of the day was meeting all of those sweet brides.  Congrats to you all and happy wedding planning!

Happy 1st Birthday, BHLDN!

Spring Collection

It’s no secret how much we adore partnering with BHLDN, so we couldn’t have been happier to see their Chicago retail storefront celebrate one year of success working with fabulous brides in the windy city.  We jumped at the chance to collaborate with so much local creative talent and were humbled to design this event alongside So Dressed UpPistil & VineTruffleberry Market, and of course, BHLDN themselves.

With the recent release of the BHLDN spring 2013 collection and also with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, romance seemed an appropriate inspiration for our little fete.  Many ruffles, roses, and teacups later, the store had been transformed into a lovely garden tea party, complete with sparkly gowns, lace parasols, and lots of pink!

The Cream & Flutter dessert table was full of tiny bites you might enjoy at an afternoon tea.  Channeling Sofia Coppola in her stylized drama of Marie Antoinette, we snagged a compilation of BHLDN’s cutest tea plates, cake pedestals, and serving pieces to create an eclectic display of cakes and cookies in a very feminine color palette.  We included shortbread cookie sandwiches with cherry jam, toasted almond rochers, mini vanilla cupcakes with strawberry buttercream and champagne bubbles,  meringue tarts with scottish lemon curd, passionfruit and vanilla bean french macarons, lemon blackberry poppyseed bread, and fresh strawberries with mascarpone whipped cream.

We talked with so many sweet brides that, even with the snow falling outside, we were swept away by dreams of summer weddings.  And while we are not planning our own nuptials, we couldn’t help but mentally select our favorite frocks and matching accessories… just in case we got invited to celebrate with some other happy couple!

For those of you who weren’t able to join us, please enjoy these photos of all things gorgeous from the party last Thursday.  Can’t get enough?  Check out all of the pieces online and shop to your heart’s content!

French Macaron Wedding Favors

French Macaron Wedding Favors

When mother-of-the-bride Hope Wesson asked me to design a french macaron favor box for her daughter’s wedding, I was completely elated.  Margaret and Rob were getting married in only a few short weeks at one of my favorite places in the entire universe:  The Old Edwards Inn & Spa in Highlands, North Carolina.

Being an October bride during peak Blue Ridge Mountain leaf season is a swoon-worthy position for any girl, but the Old Edwards Inn is an extraordinary venue in and of itself.  I was determined to impress with these Cream & Flutter favors, in hopes that Margaret and Rob could leave their guests with a very sweet send-off to this savvy Southern affair.

The wedding colors were quite natural and reminiscent of the beautiful fall landscape surrounding the Old Edwards Inn, so I designed a four-piece favor box with french macarons in dark chocolate, pistachio, passionfruit, and vanilla bean.  I coordinated the box to match in a deep brown color and added a double-faced satin ribbon in “Magnolia,” the exact color of the bride’s sash on her wedding gown.  The family also asked me to attach a custom-printed tag, including a photo of the wedding venue and a heartfelt message of thanks to their guests.

This was a very special project for a very special family, and I’m so thankful that Cream & Flutter was able to be involved, if only in a small way.  Because our team wasn’t able to be at the wedding in person, I asked the lovely and talented staff at 6 of Four Photography to share some of their photos of the bride and groom, wedding venue, and florals by Oakleaf Flower & Garden.  We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Best wishes and much happiness to the new Mr. and Mrs. Eshleman!
